TRAIL CONDITIONS UPDATE - SUNDAY 4 PM

In spite of Saturday's rain, all the trails (both XC ski & snowshoe) still enjoy 100 % coverage.

The mild weather also allowed all the icy hanging branches on the trails to spring back to their normal position (off the trails).

Unfortunately, we weren't able to track today, as our equipment would have done more damage than tracking.

There was still some tracks on the XC ski trails today (very shallow, and hit and miss), and this will all freeze overnight, making for fast conditions Monday.

Re skate skiing, lots of people walking (sans snowshoes) on the main trail, creating divots. We'll try to correct that tomorrow.

The conditions on the snowshoe trails are very good, with only the odd rock starting to show. With tonight's freeze, conditions should be very good for another 2-3 weeks.

VERY GOOD SNOW CONDITIONS ON THE TRAILS - LOTS OF HANGING BRANCHES

The entire ski trail network (except for C1 and D) was packed today, getting rid of the crusty conditions following yesterday's snow/rain/snow episode. This allowed for all sections of the A (red) trail and the B (blue) trail to be track set for classic skiing, with the exception of B4.

However, there are a lot of iced-up hanging branches over all trails, including the snowshoe trails, which will impede your progress; beware of "eye-catchers" and "face-slappers".

Overall, we have more snow on the trails than before yesterday's storm.

The parking lot has been plowed clear.

A (RED) SKI TRAIL GROOMED - SNOWSHOEING IMPROVED

The entire A (red) trail was groomed Sunday, but not tracked (not enough snow); classic and skate skiing possible, but watch out for icy patches (there are quite a few, mainly along the "T"). The B1 trail was also groomed.

With Saturday's snow now sticking more to the snowshoe trails, they can now be upgraded to "good"; but be careful, there are still some icy patches (mainly on the sloping parts on the trails, e.g. on SS14).

VERY SMALL IMPROVEMENT TO TRAIL CONDITIONS

We got a bit more snow yesterday (6 cm) than forecasted, but not enough to make a huge difference in the trail conditions. The ski trails still cannot be groomed, so skiers will make their own tracks in the dried out snow (at least it won't be sticky like yesterday).

For the snowshoe trails, there wasn't enough snow to cover the hard and icy cover which is still showing in many places.snowshoes or microgrips (yak tracks) are required to avoid slipping.

Rentals are open today (Sunday).
