Fat Bike Trails
The Summerstown Trails offers 20 km of groomed fat bike and multi-use trails. The multi-use trails (black dotted lines) are shared with snowshoers. Please ride with caution and yield to snowshoers.
Rental information below.
Grooming is provided by FOTST volunteers using a combination of a Snow Dog and ATV grooming. Trails are groomed after every major snowfall.
The trails are on gentle rolling terrain and are protected from the winds in the forest.
Fat bikes are not allowed on the snowshoe only trails and the ski trails.
Please stay off the ski trails unless crossing to get to another trail.
Fatbike Trail Rules/Etiquette
Tire width must be at least 3.7 inches (9.4 cm).
Your tire pressure must be 10 psi or less.
The depth of compacted snow on the trails must be 2 inches (5 cm) or more.
Get off the trails if:
your tracks are deeper than 2.5 cm (1 inch)
you have trouble steering in a straight line
snow conditions are such that you have to walk your bike up small, easy hills.
Keep off cross-country ski trails, except at designated crossings, and yield to skiers.
Yield to snowshoers. You have them to thank for the hard trails you use.
Avoid locking your rear wheel (skidding) on downhill runs; the ruts left behind can damage the trails.
